This Week at John Stubbs – November 29th to December 3rd, 2010

WEEKLY OVERVIEW

We’d like to start by thanking parents and guardians for taking the time to come in for parent conferences last week. Our teachers appreciated the opportunity to meet and discuss the students’ progress. With conferences now over, planning for our winter performances go into full swing. Here’s what we have on the go this week at John Stubbs:

  • Over the course of this week, elementary teachers who haven’t yet sent home their report cards will do so. The last day for elementary report cards to go home is this Friday, December 3rd.
  • On Tuesday, November 30th, Mme Drouin and her class will take a field trip to Swan Lake.
  • On Wednesday, December 1st, we will have separate assemblies for our elementary and middle school students. The purpose of the assemblies is to recognize our students with top sales in entertainment books, and also to have our monthly review of student expectations. The elementary assembly starts at 9:15 AM, and takes place in the elementary gym. The middle school assembly starts at 10:45 and takes place in the middle school gym.
  • Also on Wednesday, the PAC will be distributing mixed organic apples for this week’s Fruit and Veggie program.
  • On Friday, December 3rd, middle school report cards will be sent home.
  • Also on Friday, our Peer Counsellors will be helping out with lunch and a Christmas celebration at Our Place.

  • Tuesday, December 14th and Wednesday, December 15th – Middle School Drama performance at 7:00 PM in the Middle School Gym
  • Thursday, December 16th – Elementary performances at 1:00 and 6:30 PM in the Middle School Gym

Thanks from the Peer Counsellors

The peer counselors would like to thank everyone for their generous donations for their garage sale. We also want to thank you for shopping at the sale. Your support means a lot to us.

John Stubbs Students Receive Philanthropy Award

On November 15th, the students at John Stubbs were recognized and received a Youth in Philanthropy award. This resulted from the good works done by students in and around the school last year. The recent garage sale was another example of how this work continues this year. Our recent award was spotted by one of our parents, who has given us permission to reprint his congratulations to our blog.

I’m a parent of a Grade 1 student at John Stubbs, and I also work in the fundraising field.  I was at the National Philanthropy Day awards earlier this week, and I have to say that I was very proud of our school for winning a Youth in Philanthropy award!  The students who received the award were well spoken, and their achievements are very impressive.  Congratulations to you and the Peer Counseling team!
